Zbrašov (Zbrašovské) Aragonite Caves
The underground, where the acid water spells magic

Opening hours 29.6.2025:09:00-16:00
The caves are situated in the pictureresque valley of the Bečva river near the spa Teplice nad Bečvou. This is a unique cave system of European significance created by simultaneous activities of atmospheric water and warm mineral water, springing from great depths in the limestone area. The unique decorations of the caves contain aragonite, raft stalagmites and sinter spheric coating, reminding of doughnuts. The bottom levels of the caves are parmanently filled with carbon dioxide. The caves are the warmest underground areas of the Czech Republic, with permanent temperature of 14°C, which remains stable throughout the year. The system was discovered in 1912 and made accessible to the public in 1926. Not far from the caves there is the deepest abyss of the Czech Republic called „Hranice Abyss“. Its dry section, which can be seen, is -69.5 m deep. The total depth, as measured so far, is -519.5 m (2022), but the bottom has not been reached yet. The Hranice Abyss is now also the deepest underwater abyss in the world.
Cave tours only with guide.
Directions

The starting point for visiting the Zbrašov Aragonite Caves, the Hranice Abyss and the spa is the Teplice nad Bečvou train station (850 m) with two parking lots. The parking lot next to the station building is only for cars, the further parking lot behind the intersection is for cars and buses. The parking lots are equipped with parking machines, you can pay with coins, card or mobile application. When paying the parking fee, take into account the waiting time before visiting the caves, count on a reserve of at least 1 hour. Bus stop Teplice nad Bečvou, lázně (450 m).
From both parking lots, you can go down a few steps to the spa park. Directional signs and a red tourist sign will guide you through the park, across the pedestrian bridge to the left bank of the Bečva river. You can reach the ticket office building of the caves with a souvenir shop in a 15-minute leisurely walk. After visiting the caves, you will exit the caves on the spa embankment next to Kropáč´ spring, about 3 minutes from the bridge.

Visitors usually lock their bikes in front of the operations building to the railing along the sidewalk. The cave management is not responsible for them, but so far there have been no reported issues of theft or damage. The narrow access walkway and the surrounding steep terrain do not allow for the construction of a storage area for bicycles. Bulky luggage, backpacks, strollers, etc. we store for visitors in the operational building.

The entry of dogs or other animals into the caves is prohibited (see visitor regulations). Due to the limited space in front of the operational building, it is difficult to tie the dog so that it does not obstruct the arrival of other visitors. Please consider whether it is necessary to combine a walk with the dog and a tour of the caves.
Hranice Abyss

Information Center (IC) Hranice Abyss is open in the former building of the Teplice railway station.
The path to the Hranice Abyss begins directly in the IC building. You will pass through an underpass under the railway line, which is followed by a marked educational trail of the Hůrka u Hranice National Nature Reserve. Information panels complete the trail going uphill along the forest path. From the IC you can reach the Abyss in about 15 minutes on foot. The ascent is very difficult to manage with a stroller. Dogs must be on a leash, bicycles must be left at the IC.
